Champagne Bollinger Receives the Royal Warrant of Appointment from His Majesty the King
Champagne Bollinger is delighted to announce that His Majesty the King has chosen to bestow the Royal Warrant upon the House, marking 140 years of continuous supply to the Royal Household.
Bollinger champagne was first introduced to the British market in 1858 by London based wine merchant, Ludwig Mentzendorff, who offered his services to the House’s founder, Jacques Bollinger, to become Champagne Bollinger’s London agent. The delights of Champagne Bollinger were first introduced to Queen Victoria, and she appreciated it so highly that she awarded the first Royal Warrant in 1884. This prestigious honour has been granted consecutively by each reigning monarch since. The announcement of the Royal Warrant of Appointment from His Majesty the King, coincides with the 140th anniversary of Champagne
Bollinger continuously holding the Royal Warrant and, to date, it is the only Champagne House to hold such a prestigious honour and lengthy tenure.
Etienne Bizot, Grantee and Président Directeur Général, Groupe Bollinger, says: “I am delighted to hear that Champagne Bollinger has once again been bestowed the great honour of receiving the Royal Warrant. It is with great pride that we display the Royal Warrant on every bottle of Champagne Bollinger we produce, and it is extra special to receive it this year from His Majesty The King, on the 140th anniversary since it was first bestowed upon the House by Queen Victoria in 1884.”
To commemorate this significant milestone and celebrate the heritage of the House, Champagne Bollinger is proud to announce an exciting initiative that not only honours its storied legacy but also champions craftsmanship. In collaboration with The Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust (QEST), a charity dedicated to transforming the careers of talented and aspiring makers under the patronage of His Majesty The King, Champagne Bollinger will launch a craft competition in 2025. This initiative will engage QEST scholars to design a bespoke piece to be showcased in the new boutique hotel currently under development at the House’s historic home in Aÿ, at the heart of the Champagne region. This initiative serves as a testament to the enduring spirit of craftsmanship that has defined Champagne Bollinger for nearly 200 years
