Historic Delamain Cognac Dame-Jeanne Tops Bonhams Paris Prestige Spirits Sale
L’Édition Rare du Bicentenaire, a historical blend by Delamain presented in a 10-litre dame-jeanne crafted by Maison Goossens, sold for €93,000 at Bonhams Cornette de Saint Cyr online Fine Whisky & Spirits Sale which ran from 19th November to 6th December 2024. Encapsulating 200 years of natural exploration and artisanal excellence, L’Edition Rare du Bicentenaire by Delamain was not only a unique piece of cognac history, but a stunning work of art and craftsmanship designed by Maison Goossens. In addition to the dame-jeanne, the buyer received a 70 cl bottle of L’Edition Rare du Bicentenaire (000/200), a pipette, and the opportunity to attend a two-day experience in Jarnac with three guests.
Amayès Aouli, Global Head of Wine & Spirits, Bonhams said: “In a strong and varied sale, the dame-jeanne stood out for its rarity and desirability and not surprisingly emerged as the top lot with a selling price of €93,000. This bottle achieved a new world record price for a Cognac sold at auction in 2024. We were honoured to be entrusted by Delamain for this sale which is the culmination of a year-long partnership which featured incredible events across the globe.”
Eric Le Bouar, Managing Director of the House of Delamain, said: “Delamain was delighted to partner with Bonhams to bring global collectors a slice of Cognac’s immense history. Together we have organised a very successful series of cognac tastings of the eaux-de-vie making up the blend of this historical cognac in London, New York, Paris and Hong Kong. Now that the masterpiece Dame-Jeanne has found its fortunate owner, we are thrilled to offer to more connoisseurs the opportunity to savour this extremely rare cognac by introducing 200 limited-edition bottles of the same exquisite blend. Individually numbered and adorned with a medallion designed by Goossens, these exclusive time capsules are available in selected stores worldwide”.
