It was great to hear this week that the Tapanappa Tiers Vineyard Chardonnay has once again gained a position in Matthew Jukes ‘100 Best Australian Wines’, this time with their 2021 vintage!

Jukes has shared his thoughts on our Tapanappa wine…

2021 Tapanappa, Tiers Vineyard Chardonnay: “I featured the 2020 vintage of this wine in last year’s Report, and, by all accounts, a couple of cases are still clinging onto the limelight, but I have moved on! 2021 Tapanappa Tiers Chardonnay has won its position in this year’s Report for one reason and one reason only. At the annual Australia Trade Tasting, which happens in January each year, while beavering away, passers-by always ask which wines have caught my eye. I could always point them in the wrong direction, but for some reason, like the young George Washington, I cannot tell a lie. As I mooch around the room, I keep a running score of my favourite wines, white, reds, sweeties, etc., and within each category, I cannot resist chalking up, somewhere in the dark recesses of my brain, the best varietals, too. This leaderboard changes throughout the day, too, as new wines knock the reigning champs off the top spot. Before tasting this wine on table 14, precious few Chardies caught my eye. From table 14 until the finish line on table 55, I did not need to deploy my board rubber as this electrifying Chardonnay maintained the top spot. Now that you have made it to the end of this note, it seems somewhat superfluous to tell you what it tastes like, as I hope being in pole position for the whole of the ATT means far more than a couple of bons mots.”
