For over three centuries, Klein Constantia has been a cornerstone of South African winemaking excellence. To mark its 340th anniversary, the estate proudly releases the Vin de Constance 2010 – a wine that has matured for 15 years, offering a rare blend of history, craftsmanship, and innovation.

From Napoleon’s courts to Jane Austen’s novels and Nelson Mandela’s private cellar, Vin de Constance is a wine of legend—an icon celebrated by monarchs, poets, and connoisseurs alike. This 2010 vintage carries forward that legacy, blending tradition with a bold new vision. Limited in availability, it is destined to captivate both seasoned collectors and modern wine enthusiasts.

Crafted with precision and patience, the Vin de Constance 2010 was aged for 15 years in French oak barrels. What sets the 2010 vintage apart is its departure from the traditional style of its predecessors. With a richer, more opulent profile, it invites a bold reimagining of Vin de Constance while remaining deeply rooted in its heritage.

Klein Constantia’s Winemaker, Matt Day, says: “We are very excited to be celebrating 340 years this year, and the release of the Vin de Constance 2010 is the perfect way to mark the occasion. This is the first time that the 2010 vintage has been released, with only a select number of bottles available from a total of 7 barrels. This exclusive release shows a different side to the Vin de Constance that many people won’t have previously seen, and its release is an opportunity to own a rare piece of winemaking history. We are very pleased to have found the perfect occasion to celebrate such an exceptional wine!”

This milestone anniversary is an extraordinary moment for Klein Constantia. From its founding in 1685 to its revival in the 1980s, the estate has become a cornerstone of South Africa’s viticultural heritage. Situated between ocean breezes and mountain slopes, Klein Constantia’s unique terroir inspires wines of profound character. The estate’s commitment to excellence flows through every bottle, embodying the spirit of the land and 340 years of tradition.

The 2010 presents aromas of honeysuckle, sandalwood, and nutmeg, balanced by vibrant acidity and natural sweetness. Its structure and finish make it suitable for enjoying now or aging for generations to come. This vintage reflects both the legacy and evolution of Vin de Constance, offering a fresh perspective on a celebrated classic.

The Vin de Constance 2010 will be available exclusively from Fine Wine Merchants from end of April, with an RRP of £140.
