Nestled amongst the rolling hills of Hampshire, Exton Park’s 60-acre (24 hectare) single-vineyard is located just to the East of Winchester and around one hour west of London. Here, the Exton Park team are crafting some of the leading and most innovative English sparkling wines.

In a nutshell: First planted in 2003, Exton Park was founded by Malcolm Isaac MBE, the pioneer of the UK salad industry. It was his vision to establish one of the leading English sparkling wine producers in a Hampshire valley that he had been farming for decades. To do this, Malcolm knew he needed the very best ingredients.

He personally curated a team of specialists, starting with Vineyard Director, Fred Langdale, and soon followed by Head Winemaker, Corinne Seely. With Corinne’s previous winemaking experience in English sparkling, as well as at Chateau Lynch-Bages and Domaine de Chevalier, in 2011 she introduced the idea of building a library of reserve wines, all sourced from one single vineyard.

Today, with a 60-acre single vineyard and a library of reserve wines stretching back over 13 years, Exton Park has established itself as one of the top English wine producers, with a clear focus on quality, provenance, sustainability, and innovation. One of a handful of true single-estate producers in the UK, Exton Park is also a founding member of the Sustainable Wines of Great Britain initiative.

The Terroir: The estate straddles one ridge of the Meon Valley looking across the Meon River over to Old Winchester Hill. The top of the estate sits at 130 metres in altitude and rolls down to 65 metres. Within this one 60-acre field, there is a huge variation in altitude, aspect, soil depth, and age of vines. It is this variety within the terroir that provides the spectrum of flavours from across the vineyard that we seek to capture and curate in our wines. The soil is very high alkaline chalk, with a thin layer of clay loam (1 foot) at the top of the vineyard, and thicker soils (up to a metre) at the bottom.
