David Guimaraens Visit
We had the pleasure of hosting the amazing David Guimaraens in London this month for several customer meetings and events. In true David style, he charmed and captivated audiences everywhere he went. His busy schedule began on Tuesday with trade visits to Lay & Wheeler, Berry Bros. & Rudd and Bourdeaux Index. The day was rounded off with an amazing fine wine tasting and dinner for 15 customers at The Wine Cellars in The Stafford Hotel.
Wednesday saw no rest for the wicked with at 9.30am start at The Ritz, in what can only be described and an extraordinary staff training at tasting with the full Ritz Sommelier team. The highlight of the tasting was the opening of a 12Ltr bottle of Fonseca Guimaraens 2013 by David (one of only 3 produced) and an exceptional Taylor’s Aged Tawny lineup of Golden Age 50YO, VVOP and 1896 which The Ritz are now serving as a port flight. Then it was back to The Stafford for a press tasing and lunch with a focus on the 2022’s, before moving swiftly onto a John Lewis Partnership tasting at their offices in Pimlico for 55 members.
David’s final day was spent at tasting and lunch with Cambridge College, where David was even invited to speak and attend a dinner at one of the Colleges next year, a true honour.
