Champagne Bollinger is pleased to announce that the latest edition in the Bollinger PN collection, the Bollinger PN VZ19, is now available in the UK. Each new edition of the Bollinger PN cuvée brings with it a singular and contemporary vision of the Maison’s terroir and expertise, acting as a symbol of the union between tradition and innovation. As with previous iterations, the name PN VZ19 represents the grape (100% Pinot Noir), the principal cru (Verzenay) and the base year (2019), all designed to make terroir the star of the show.

A predominant grape across the range, Pinot Noir is the pillar of the Bollinger style, and the House has forged its reputation by showcasing this variety. Bollinger PN embodies the ambition to bring to light the variety of expressions of Pinot Noir by selecting the finest varietal from several terroirs, each contributing a unique component to the overall taste.

The PN VZ19 is the fifth edition of the collection. For the most part, PN VZ19 began its life in one of the Maison’s historic Grands Crus in the north of its vineyards. Blended here with terroirs from Aÿ to Louvois, wines from Verzenay are always full of freshness with a clearly defined, chiselled structure. With its depth, elegance, tension, and a saline finish evocative of the region’s characteristic chalky soils, PN VZ19 will delight the most informed palates.

On the nose, the PN VZ19 has a pinch of gooseberry acidity. Yellow fruits, such as fig, release sweet aromas, while citrus notes of candied lemon and bergamot enhance the bouquet. Finally, honeyed aromas appear on the finish, rounding off into light red fruit notes. On the palate this wine is endlessly indulgent. Ever so slightly acidic Mirabelle plum, soft, sweet flavours and a creamy mousse… Citrus zest finishes everything off in style, coating the palate with deliciously bitter notes and beautiful freshness.

Denis Bunner, Bollinger Chef de Cave says: When you enjoy a glass of PN VZ19, you will appreciate how powerful the juice is from the red grapes that went into this exceptional wine. You will notice its enticing aromas, its creaminess, and its elegantly delectable bubbles. PN is a stunning expression of the very best of our expertise, made visible to the whole world.”

The new release was celebrated on 19th June at an intimate lunch at newly opened Asian restaurant, CLAP London, hosted by Cyril Delarue of the Bollinger family. In addition to the unveiling of the PN VZ19, guests were also delighted with several back releases of the PN range over the course of the meal, the PN TX17 and PN AYC18. Each wine was expertly paired with various dishes ranging from delicate plates of sashimi, to shoyu Chilean seabass, pistachio crusted chicken and a marinated rack of lamb, each showcasing the gastronomic versatility of the range.

PN VZ19 is a wine to be enjoyed by enthusiasts interested in the expression of Pinot Noir from across the Champagne region. The RSP for this wine is £99 and is available from Fine Wine Merchants.
