Mentzendorff were delighted to announce two prestigious new producers to their portfolio at their Annual Portfolio Tasting yesterday held at One Great George Street. Ponzi Vineyards from Willamette Valley, Oregon, and Fladgate Still & Sparkling Wines from Portugal, have joined Mentzendorff’s curated selection of fine wines from family run estates, further enriching the company’s offering in Portugal and making a returned foray across the Atlantic to the USA.

Established in 1970, Ponzi Vineyards stands as a pioneer in the Willamette Valley wine scene, recognised for its unwavering commitment to crafting exceptional Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Following its recent acquisition by the Bollinger Family Group in 2021, Ponzi Vineyards has embarked on a new chapter, infused with renewed vigour and a dedication to excellence. It is the first time Ponzi Vineyard wines have been distributed in the UK.

Principal Grande Reserva Red from Bairrada Fladgate Still & Sparkling Wines is The Fladgate Partnership’s first move away from fortified wines following the acquisition of IdealDrinks in September 2023. With a vision to produce wines rivalling the world’s classic wine regions, Fladgate Still & Sparkling Wines embodies a fusion of modern expertise and centuries-old heritage, poised to captivate wine enthusiasts worldwide. Wines hail from the historical vineyards and magnificent estates across Vinho Verde DOC, Dão DOC and Bairrada DOC.

Reflecting on these additions to the portfolio, Mentzendorff Managing Director, Justin Liddle, expressed, “We are thrilled to welcome two new producers into our portfolio and in particular I am delighted we could announce this at our Annual Portfolio Tasting which is undoubtedly one of the highlights of our calendar year. Although we are no strangers to exceptional Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays within our Portfolio, it has been a pleasure to further strengthen our offering with a US producer who is an expert in these varieties, and we look forward to introducing the Ponzi Vineyards range to the UK market.

Liddle continued: “We have been expanding our offering of Portuguese still wines since the wines of Cartuxa from Alentejo joined our Portfolio in 2021 and we are delighted to be increasing that further this year to include the exceptional wines from the North of Portugal with Fladgate Still & Sparkling Wines. They are producing wines from some of the best terroirs in Portugal and we are excited to introduce these excellent wines to our customers.”

The Mentzendorff Annual Portfolio Tasting, drew an impressive crowd of more than 450 industry professionals, providing a platform for attendees to experience first hand the exceptional quality and diversity offered by all producers across the Portfolio.
