Happy International Sherry Week!
In celebration of International Sherry Week, we welcomed Fermín Hidalgo from Bodegas Hidalgo to the UK to spread his wealth of knowledge on all things sherry!
Anthony Field-Johnson hosted Fermín on Tuesday for a ‘Fine Wine’ day in trade which was then followed by a Supper Club event hosted by Mari Juhasoo at Brindisa in Richmond. This was a consumer dinner event where the Hidalgo sherries were paired with each of the five courses. Brindisa have also been running a special sherry this week in celebration of ‘Sherry Week’!
Clive Ashby had organised various team tastings throughout Wednesday which engaged both consumers and customers. Despite the drizzly weather they ticked off a lot of appointments making for a very busy day.
On Thursday Fermín spent some time with both Andrew Wilkins in London and Alastair Fleming up in Nottingham. Andrew and Fermín hosted a team tasting at Sky Garden which was followed by lunch. After a little too much Meursault, Fermín had a mad dash to the train station before heading north to meet Alastair for an afternoon appointment in Nottingham. Thursday evening was spent at a Direct Wines Consumer Tasting at Nottingham Rugby Club. It was a successful event with a great turnout of consumers from all streams (shops/wine club members/phone/internet).
Fermín is now on his way back to the sunny south of Spain after a very busy week of promoting his sherry!
